We learned how they made baskets
for a variety of uses...
to teach them hunting skills...
and what it would be like if your WHOLE FAMILY
lived in a little tule hut! {Yikes!}
Everyone got a chance to grind their own acorns
into a delicious {NOT!!} bowl of acorn mush.
Camille thought it was so fun -
{Of course, grinding three acorns isn't too bad...
she probably wouldn't enjoy
grinding 300 pounds of acorns so much!}
They learned all about the Native American's
system of bartering,
and what it would be like if your WHOLE FAMILYlived in a little tule hut! {Yikes!}

So beautiful! Makes me miss California SO much! What a great trip!
It is snowing here this morning! But it looks beautiful.
Sounds like it was a very fun field trip.
Yeah, snow...who moved here anyway. Spring is supposed to start in February! I love the pictures. You captured the area very well.
What a great trip!
I'm glad you guys had so much fun!
Amazing pictures and post. So fun that your kids have all done this in 3rd grade no less. My poor military dragged around the country children....i hope they have some type of memories to share together some day.
Wow! What a great County to have such a fun field-trip for the kids. As I recall, they also have one of the better exhibits at the state fair! Thanks for the Birthday wishes...I really am looking forward to my 30s!!

What a fun fieldtrip. I especially love the goat on the table!
Responding to your questions about the Snowy River movies..
I watched them when I was that age. There are a few things that I didn't notice as a kid that I notice as an adult. There are some mild curses, a few mild sexual references and in the second movie they do live together without getting married(which I totally didn't notice as a kida and there is no depiction of anthing beyon a few kisses). If you allow your kids to watch the Harry Potter movies, they have nothing more than any of the Harry Potter movies, especially the last few. They are both rated PG (and it was made in the 80s when PG was still pretty clean =)).
Makes me miss California!!
